Jozef Kamrla was born on December 2nd, 1935 in Senica. After completing studies at local catholic gymnasium, he continued to attend Slovak Technical University in Bratislava. In 1956, he became the main organiser of student manifestations at the dormitory Mladá garda and the student Majáles- a critical allegorical march in the streets of Bratislava. To escape persecution, he had to finish his studies at Czech Technical University in Prague. Jozef worked in various engineering enterprises, notably in ZIPP Trnava, which sent him to Algeria in 1986-9. He was expelled from Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in 1972. He lives in Bratislava.
