Josef Nedomlel

* 1940

  • "I vividly remember the liberation, when the tanks, the Russian troops that were in Klánovice, were driving down the street. The soldiers had these little horses, so behind the tanks followed the troops, horses, wagons, everything that belongs to the army, cannons. And the very oldest memory is when we were hiding in a shelter during the bombing of Prague. There was a cellar next to the butcher's shop, of course, where we had some benches, basic foodstuffs, blankets and so on. And when these tents started to fall, which was radar jamming, we knew that they were going to bomb. So we quickly moved to the basement, the last one covered it with spruce logs so that we wouldn't get bombed. So those are my earliest memories. Just before the troops came, when the liberation was taking place, my father and I, it was more out of his curiosity than mine, would go to Horní Počernice to watch them bomb Prague."

Josef Nedomlel was born on 1 July 1940 in Prague. The family moved from Klánovice to Vlčí Hora in 1945. Here he grew up with his parents, sister and brother. He attended primary school in Vlčí Hora and Krásná Lípa. A sad memory of an otherwise beautiful childhood is linked to 1953, when his father spent 13 months on military training in Slovakia in mines and smelters. He was classified among the „elements“ and his mother only vainly asked for his release. He graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Industrial High School in Varnsdorf in 1958. He spent his professional life in various positions in the Jiříkovo engineering plants. After the revolution, he became one of the co-owners and managed JST Jiříkov until he was 70 years old. He and his wife raised two daughters. In 2024, the witness was living in Jiříkov.
